Codemasters - один из старейших британских действующих разработчиков и издателей видеоигр. Компания была основана в 1985 году Ричардом и Дэвидом Darling (которые до этого работали в компании Mastertronic).

В начале компания была ориентирована на платформу ZX-Spectrum и игры жанра Graphic Adventure. До 1992 года компания издавала бюджетные ( low-retail-price) тайтлы, что также способствовало ее популярности.
